healthy hair care tips

1. Wash hair every 7-10 days (This allows time for hair to develop it's natural oils so the hair would not become too dry. Also, frequent washes allows the scalp to remain clean without oil build up, this allows hair to push through effectively).

2. Choose the right products for your hair making sure not to use too many at a time. eg. try out a product for at least 4-6 weeks to notice the effects on the hair.

3. For afro/carribean hair, deep condition the hair at least every 2 weeks. This allows the hair to remain healthy and strong, decreasing the chances of breakage.

4. Drink plenty of water to promote shine in the hair. Eat healthy foods containing protein and iron, this also creates shine and promotes healthy new growth.

5. Decrease the amount of heat to the hair. If heat is applied, make sure to use an effective serum or heat spray to protect the hair strands from becoming weak or split.

6. Ensure to air-dry the hair after washing, at least 50% of drying time before using direct heat. Or alternatively use a hooded dryer. (As the hair is at it's weakest when wet, direct heat may stretch the hair making it become weaker).

7. Try not to use too many heavy oils on the scalp, as this clogs up the scalp making it hard for hair under to push out effectively.

8. In the winter, be sure to mask the hair with a light oil (this could be hair spray or a light moisturiser) as the hair becomes dry, enabeling it to become more prone to breakage and damage.

9. Ensure to wash the hair thouroughly after swimming. As chlorine is dangerous for the hair, being mixed with certain chemicals could damage hair severely.

10. Make sure to trim the ends of the hair every 6-8 weeks for relax treated hair, or every 8-12 weeks for natural hair (This allows the hair to appear even and grow healthy).
